Deering making official visit to UNC

Leto standout running back Jeremy Deering has scheduled his second official visit, Leto offensive coordinator Frank Rose said Monday.

Deering, one of the county's top running backs and the state's top recruits, will visit North Carolina on Nov. 15 for the Tar Heels' conference game against Miami.

Deering's first official visit was to Purdue on Sept. 26 when the Boilermakers played Notre Dame.

Deering, ranked the 52nd best safety prospect in the nation by Rivals.com,  is Hillsborough County's seventh-leading rusher with 585 yards and He also has 255 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 13 catches. Rose said Deering will be used more often in the backfield in the Wildcat formation to keep the ball in his hands. Leto is 1-5 and has scored double digit points just twice.

Deering owns more than 40 offers, including ones from the likes of Michigan, Florida State, Auburn, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Rutgers, South Carolina, UCF and West Virginia.
