Alonso second baseman Tyler Ding has committed to play at the University of Tampa, Alonso coach Landy Faedo said.
Ding, a Times All-Hillsborough County first-team selection, was one of the top all-around players in Hillsborough County last season, hitting .476 with two homers, 26 RBIs, 31 runs and 23 stolen bases for the Class 6A state champion Ravens. He was also a 6A all-state first-teamer and the co-MVP of last year’s Saladino Tournament.
Faedo said Ding also received some junior college opportunities, but that UT came on late with an offer this fall after following Ding closely and watching him play in a tournament.
