Countryside junior Tyler Moore has worn Nebraska apparel almost since the day he was born.

Soon, he will have a new red-and-white outfit in his possession — a Nebraska Cornhuskers football uniform.

On Friday night, Moore, a heralded 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle for Countryside, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he committed to Nebraska, his father, Brian, told the St. Petersburg Times. That program has been No. 1 on Tyler's list since the day the Cornhuskers offered a scholarship and No. 1 in Moore's heart his entire life because of his strong ties to the school.

"He committed yesterday," Brian Moore said Saturday.

Brian Moore was a Nebraska tight end in the 1980s. Former NFL quarterback and Nebraska alum Vince Ferragamo is an uncle on the side of Tyler's mother (Kim Sorensen). Additionally, two of Moore's cousins played for the Cornhuskers.

Moore grew up watching Nebraska games with his father, and he became even more enamored after attending football camp there this past summer.

"I always loved the 'N' on the helmet," Moore said earlier this fall.

He chose Nebraska over Florida. The Gators made a strong push after a slow start. Moore had never seriously considered the program until attending a camp at Florida a few months ago.

Schools such as Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee and West Virginia also offered scholarships.

Moore is considered an elite prospect. Scout.com, a Web site devoted to football recruiting, recently named him one of the nation's 100 best juniors.
