Cloudy playoff picture in Pinellas

Posted on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at 8:54 p.m.

At 7-1, St. Petersburg is tied with two other teams for the best record in the county. But the Green Devils are not celebrating yet. Despite its record, St. Petersburg is not a cinch to make the playoffs and will be finished when the postseason begins if it doesn't win tonight. Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University (3-5) and Dunedin (1-7) are not out of the playoff race, even though many would say they have no business being in it.

Pigs do fly in Pinellas County these days. Which teams have a shot at making the playoffs? Not many in this wacky season in which teams need to remember they're only a week away from turning things around.

The district schedule winds down tonight, and if every crazy chip falls, the county could be looking at shootouts in three districts come Monday.

Here is a breakdown of games and playoff possibilities for each district.

Come on Dung Dung. Step it up tonight.

Want another shot at PHU? Beat East Lake. Don't want another shot--afraid to get spanked again? Then fold like you have in every other game this season.

The ball's in your court now. Do something with it, or turn your equipment in.

Back up your chippy talk and get a win on the field.

Fishy, wheelchair, wah-wah: What do you say? How bout you twits direct your misguided anger and ignorant vitriol away from me for a few moments and get your boys to actually perform tonight.

Can it be done? Doubtful. Would it be nice? Absolutely.

lookin in you are pathetic!!! You know your begging for a Dunedin win so that you might have a chance if you beat Clearwater tonight. I don't see a last second field goal by you guys at PHU for the win over Dunedin last week as you spanking them. I hope you do win tonight, then I hope it comes down to a last second field goal for Dunedin & they miss destroying any hope you thought you might have had. Regardless the runner up in the district will be bounced in the first round.

Cschmuck, you sound so bitter.

You've got your store-bought district championship this year, so why are you so angry and wishing ill upon Dung Dung?

Enjoy your 09 dominance and leave those of us less fortunates be. You've got a good team, but likely a one-and-doner.

Heck, you've probably got a heck of a challenge with Largo ahead of you tonight. Save your strength for smack talking some Largo folk.

Lookin in, store bought? We beat every team in our district by an average of 30 points to include you smucks by 36. Heck we were up 30 to zip before you even had a chance to score. Store bought, I think not...we dominated your butts this season. As for next season, I will deal with that when it comes. It's all about the now!! I see us getting to the 2nd round & we will see from there. For today I'm going to go enjoy a great game between "the go" & the cougars. Smack talk about this game to come later. :)
