Here’s a quick overview on the recovery process of Gulf DT Leon Orr, a Florida Gators commit who hasn’t played since Week 2 because of a fractured leg:
*Oct. 29: Had surgery in New Port Richey to repair the damage. Orr was knocked out and doesn’t remember much, but estimated the procedure took a couple of hours. When asked if he was scared at all, Orr replied, “Not really.”
*This week and next, Orr will wear a soft cast on the leg. According to Answers.com, a soft casts allows a decent amount of movement and give – and tends to be more comfortable to wear than a hard cast.
*When the soft cast comes off, Orr will have to spend the next eight weeks in a hard cast. After that, he’ll be able to begin his rehabilitation.
“In about two-and-a-half months, I should be 100 percent,” Orr said.
When I talked to Orr on Saturday, he still seemed a little bummed about having to miss most of his senior season. But he’s excited about the future, and can’t wait to start college.
